Ode to Hope

We act as though we are blind

While we watch the vices of this world unwind

We see children dying in their deep sleep

Parents hold their hands and weep

Dry mouths quenched with a double-edged sword

Their cries strike a sad, grieving chord

Empty-handed with no assurance of life

Constant evil, sorrows and strife

Our eyes diverge from their heart-wrenching lives

As we appease our conscience by dropping them mere likes

Toss them the crumbs from our table

Keep treating this atrocity like a fable

Live your appealing God-gifted dreams

While others’ lives helplessly fall apart at the seams

But we all have an opportunity, a chance, a moment

To colour their dull world with atonement

For Hope in them, we can cement!!!
