Grim Goodbye

Dark clouds roll on in the evening sky;

My thoughts, they do not rest;

With the storm of emotions passing by

Beating against my chest.

If only, on that fateful day,

My ego hadn’t got in the way.

If only, anger had not inflamed me,

And silence had restrained me.

If only, my hate had not sustained,

If only I’d made an effort to remain.

Many ‘if onlys’ plague my memory;

The clouds and stars beheld my tragedy;

And they remind me every day;

Of the past that I missed while I stayed away.

It is just so unfair, the one time

I left without goodbye

Left me with no other chance to try

Blame me! I sadly missed the farewell

There were yet so many things to tell…

    1. Heyy Shreya!!
      I’m utmost touched by what you’ve just written.
      Tbh, I’d written these poems quite some time back but since it’s just now that I’ve discovered wordpress, I decided to post them.
      And poetry is not at all innate, I even thought I’d fare pretty badly😂 It’s just that I’m learning from you all on this writing platform. Yes! Even from you! Personally, what I liked the most in your posts was your inspiring personal touch-straight from the heart😊 and I don’t think I’m someone well apt to give advice or suggestions. You are doing perfectly fine in your own way! Keep it that way! Be you!
      P. S: Just don’t call me Sir, please! 😂
      I’m simply an average, eccentric 17 year old female somewhat perplexed about herself😂 We can definitely be good friends tho😊😙
      You are a beautiful soul 🌸🌹🌼
      Love, Ashwini😊

    1. Yes exactly! We are always wondering about the roads not taken, the what ifs; the only ifs. If only we could just stop what iffing and take in the present.
      Thank you for reading and dropping this truthful comment😊
